About Arthur Steuer

A New York City native, Arthur grew up with a father in the entertainment business. They first lived in the heart of Greenwich Village on Charles Street. In 1960 his father and a friend bought two small brick townhouses in Little Italy on Spring Street between Thompson and Sullivan streets. It was a working class neighborhood of small tenement flats and vacant factories. At that time the buildings on Spring St. cost $16,500 each. Renovations included planting trees in the front and putting a pool in the back that doubled as a skating rink in the winter. When they had business in New York friends from the entertainment world, like Dick Gregory, Lenny Bruce, Timothy Leary, Jimi Hendrix, Abbie Hoffman et al, would come downtown and hang out. The neighborhood would soon change and becomeSoho and the house is now valued somewhere north of $5.5 million dollars.  17 years ago Arthur worked as a recording engineer and music producer for artists like Dave Van Ronk, Madonna, Run DMC, David Byrne, Roberta Flack to name a few.  His wife, a classical pianist and teacher, wanted a home piano studio. After two weeks of looking, unsuccessfully, at properties they could afford in Greenwich Village and Soho, Arthur found a space in the unnamed neighborhood below Soho and Canal street and they bought a full-floor loft on Reade Street for under $200,000. The area is now known as Tribeca, and his wife operated her successful studio there until recently, when they sold it for a well over a million dollars.  Researching and looking for the new home for the family and their businesses in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn was not only a labor of love but a reminder of how much Arthur enjoyed dealing with property and real estate. He realized he could help other people and their families find property that would not only be places for them to live happily and enjoy a comfortable lifestyle  -- but, at the same time, be a great investment in their family's financial future.  Arthur's experiences as a music engineer and producer taught him the value of listening, and the benefits of patience and persistence. His ability to make himself accessible and approachable and to be able to understand and interpret what the artists were striving to accomplish, gained him their trust and friendship. This also enabled them to feel confident and comfortable that, with him on their team, they would be able to fulfill their visions and achieve their creative goals. He applies this same philosophy when working with clients at KIAN Realty -- to listen, understand, communicate, and go the extra mile to help them find and fulfill their personal dreams and goals.

Client Comments:

"I can say from personal experience, that selling my New York apartment was a very emotional and stressful experience for me. I loved my apartment, it was like my baby. I never wanted to lose it, but I wanted to move overseas, so I had to do it. I had plenty of brokers after me trying to convince me that I should use them, even two who lived in the building itself, so they seemed like a natural fit. But I chose Arthur Steuer. He seemed to care more. He was very good at listening to me, trying to understand what I wanted. Without my asking, he volunteered to, and went not only the extra mile, but extra miles, when it came to the details involved. While I was away, he had it painted, renovated, and even watered the plants on the terrace. As I said, it was heartbreaking for me to give up my apartment, and incredibly stressful, but Arthur was always there, to help, and to even comfort me through out the process. That is why I decided to write this testimonial, and to recommend Arthur."

"Around the Christmas holidays last year, when two apartments in our brownstone became vacant, I called Arthur Steuer to help us find new tenants. Thanks to his hard work, patient diligence, and sparkling personality, we filled the vacancies promptly. I can’t recommend him highly enough."
