About Jean-Francois Kowalski

Jean-François Kowalski found his passion for real estate while developing the New York branch of his Paris publishing firm. Armed with 20+ years of business experience, he helps people buy, sell, and lease real estate throughout the city.

An award-winning entrepreneur with a keen sense of the marketplace, Jean-François thrives in turning challenges into opportunities. He brings perseverance, dedication, and a high degree of integrity to his clients, reflected in the many positive reviews of his work on their behalf.

Before Jean-François obtained his real estate license in 2014, he created, designed, and published books and magazines for 15 years at his Paris- and New York-based publishing companies. Indisputably passionate about new media and print from a young age, he is an autodidact who coded his first website at age 12 and launched his first magazine at age 15.

Jean-François has a creatively mischievous streak, too: In the fall of 2008, he developed and published The Nicolas Sarkozy Voodoo Kit, which, aside from annoying the President of France, instantly became an international media sensation (Sarkozy tried through the courts—and failed—to have the product pulled from the market) and "a best-selling cult item" (New York Times).

In 2009, Jean-François left Paris and opened a New York office after Lady Luck selected his application to the green card lottery. Within a few weeks, he entered into an agreement with the estate of Alfred Hitchcock to create the book Hitchcock, Piece by Piece, which he sold to and co-published worldwide with venerable publishers including Abrams (New York), La Martinière (Paris), Planeta (Barcelona), and Knesebeck (Munich). Jean-François's own design of the book received awards at the American Graphic Design Awards (2011), Creativity International Awards (2011), and HOW International Design Awards (2012). The book also appeared on ABC's Good Morning America as one of the anchors' "favorite coffee table books of the year."

Jean-François founded the real estate brokerage Kowalski & Co at One World Trade Center in 2018. He is a Certified Negotiation Expert, Certified Buyer Representative, and active member of the Real Estate Board of New York. He has been a devoted dog dad and downtown resident for many years.
