For today, Thursday, May 13, 2022, the national average 30-year fixed-mortgage rate is 5.57%, up 9 basis points from a week ago.
Our lead story today is the housing market has flipped trajectories and is cooling. Home listings are rising and 15% of home sellers in April cut their asking price.
There are mixed reviews from NAR members about the increase in the Consumer Advertising Campaign assessment. Many felt that $35 for advertising against NAR competitors was a waste of money.
Inflation decelerates slightly from 40-year high as the Consumer Price index rises 8.3% in April, down from 8.5%. The national average for gas hits a record $4.37 a gallon.
